Ensuring reliable measurements of the water flow rate in large diameter pipes and gravity-flow conduits

Summary

The design of a large-scale low pressure (less than 10 meters) meter installation with a capacity of about 3000 m³/h and 0.11% error (at the maximum flow rate) for calibration of flow meters for pressure and gravity liquid flows in pipelines and rectangular conduits is suggested. Such installation can be manufactured in a relatively short time at favorable price. The availability of the installation provides for solving many tasks of measuring large water flows.

Investigating the efficiency of using corrosion inhibitors for conditioning of water with high salt content

Summary

The results of experimental investigations in one of the recycling water supply systems at the gas processing plant experiencing the problem of high-rate biological growth are presented. Recycling water from the system was characterized with high salt content, high chloride and sulphate concentrations. The use of inhibitors in water treatment provides for reducing the corrosion rate in heat exchangers and pipelines.

Sewer concrete and reinforced concrete structure failure under the impact of corrosive environment

Summary

The factors causing gas corrosion of sewer reinforced concrete structures are considered. The equipment for on-line monitoring of corrosion processes at the facilities operating in a corrosive environment is suggested. The experience of installing and operating the equipment under the real operation conditions is analyzed. Including the provisions on mandatory monitoring corrosion processes at the facilities into the relative regulatory documents will ensure receiving on-line reliable data on the condition of the facilities; making adequate decisions on countermeasures; improving the operational safety and saving repair costs.

Submersible pumps are selected as a LCC calculation object because of their wide use at the sewage pumping stations under construction or subject to upgrade.
