Selecting the equipment for wastewater and industrial sludge dewatering

Summary

The basic process parameters when selecting dewatering equipment are as follows: capacity; water content of sludge fed for dewatering; water content of dewatered sludge; dry matter retention efficiency; suspended solids concentration in filtrate (centrate). The comparative analysis of the technologic and economic aspects of using the most popular equipment for wastewater sludge dewatering is presented. The specific features of using centrifuges, belt filter presses and screw dehydrators are considered. Screw dehydrators for wastewater sludge dewatering at small-scale treatment facilities are described.

Local Treatment of Industrial Wastewater of the Samara Tank Factory Before Discharge into City Sewerage

Summary

A flow chart of local treatment of wash water of a hot metal galvanizing line making it possible to reuse them in production is proposed. It is established that in the course of waste water treatment according to the flow chart proposed the salt content in wash water does not increase and the total volume of water consumption and wastewater disposal of the factory is reduced. A possibility of using the filter-press for water clarification at reagent treatment is proved. The technology of reverse osmosis is used for organization of recirculating water supply.

Modernization of Sewerage Treatment Facilities

Summary

The basic technical decisions and a description of the new equipment introduced at sewerage treatment facilities of the city of Novosibirsk are presented. It is told about the methods used when repairing pipelines and capacitive facilities. Modernization is carried out at all stages of treatment: at the main pumping station, mechanical and biological treatment facilities, sludge treatment facilities. Measures carried out make it possible to improve the quality of wastewater treatment, to reduce the discharge of polluting substances into the Ob. Modernization of the operating treatment facilities owing to the use of up-to-date equipment made it possible to improve the reliability of operation of the complex as a whole, to reduce the volume of sludge intended to further utilization, to reduce the negative influence on the environment and improve the city ecology.

Adoption of New Production Processes

Summary

The EcopolymerGroup in addition to products made of polymeric materials produces a wide range of equipment made of stainless and carbon steels for solution of different technological tasks of water supply and water disposal systems. Designs of equipment for wastewater and sludge treatment – check-in valves, rack fine treatment screens, belt filter-presses – are described. Main technical characteristics and advantages of the equipment manufactured are presented. Specialists of the company in cooperation with engineers of the South Korean partner have developed the design and mastered the serial production of a belt filter-press of BFS series fitting the level of the best world models.

Development of high-technology wastewater treatment facilities on the basis of «Ecopolymer» equipment

Summary

«Ecopolymer» Manufacturing Company LLC has lately expanded both the production capacities and production portfolio. The Company is aiming at producing not just separate product types but complexes designed for complete cycle of process operations. The Company production program is presented. The designs of a belt filter-press, rack screens for fine treatment, a screw conveyor and a screw press for screenings, and a sludge pump are described. The basic specifications and advantages of the equipment manufactured by «Ecopolymer» Manufacturing Company LLC are summarized. The development and manufacture by the «Ecopolymer» production department of the control cabinets for the automation of the operation of the entire treatment facilities or their separate units has become a solid step in the control of the treatment facilities as a whole. The long-term Company’s experience provides for offering the customers ready-made solutions of the manufactured equipment layout with the visualization of the layout and harmonization of all the automated control systems for the equipment included into the complex.

Cooperation for the Benefit of Ecology

Summary

It is told about the introduction of equipment of the Scientific-Production Company ECOTONfor modernization of treatment facilities of the city of Novosibirsk: tubular aerators, the automated complex of mechanical grates with a screw conveyor and a press-compactor, sluice gates, rake grates, belt filter-presses, screw transporters. The joint project of the Scientific-Production Company ECOTONand the Municipal Unitary Enterprise Gorvodokanalof Novosibirsk is oriented on the improvement of wastewater treatment and optimal reduction of expenditures for works execution. The use of equipment of the ECOTONCo. for the purpose of modernization of sewerage treatment facilities makes it possible to solve the problems of energy and resources saving.

Typical engineering solutions of a wastewater sludge
mechanical dewatering plant

Summary

An illustration of a comprehensive typical solution is presented for the construction of a wastewater sludge mechanical dewatering plant based on filter press use for wastewater treatment facilities. Choosing the method of wastewater sludge treatment has been a complicated engineering task that demands special research and experiments at simulated or operating wastewater treatment facilities. Herewith the sludge dewatering properties, dewatering equipment type and cost, as well as the technology of the subsequent sludge handling with account of sludge utilization shall be taken into consideration and specified. The advantages of new construction compared to the upgrade of the existing buildings, networks, equipment are shown. Two of the typical projects are presented – with the use of two and three filter presses. The developed engineering solutions provide for the shortened timescales of project design and cost. The typical projects have been executed with the use of advanced 3D-designing tools that provide for the visualization of the building, equipment and utility systems already at the design stage of the future wastewater sludge mechanical dewatering plant.
